In this blog we will tell you about the «Rise to the Repeater.» Known for all cyclists in the area and not so much for the thousands of cyclists that visit to us every year. Over time this climb has become one of the most iconic in the area of the Málaga coast.
Some like to call this increase «Antennas» others «Repeater». But as we like to say in spanish «we like to call things by their name; to the bread bread and wine wine».

This rise offers several variants to access it:

  • Benalmádena from the A-368, the busiest by local cyclists for their gentle ramps.
  • In Entrerreríos by the A-7053 a little longer and not as showy landscapes as the other rises.
  • Fuengirola from the A-387, with a shorter distance but can be considered one of the hardest because of their ramps between 8 and 9%. ( is not the most recommendable for us)
  • And last but not least because it is the rise of which I will talk about in this blog, this called for us»Rise to the repeater Mijas Urbanisations.»

Such rise of which I speak is known by local bikers and not so much for those who visit us.

This route starts from the center of Fuengirola and crosses through the neighborhoods of El Coto, Mijas Campo and Stove until you reach the foot of Mijas village.

Rise to the Repeater

During the 6.5 kilometer route in a first variant to this rise which will make it even harder than it already is is will find yourself.
This variant is turning to the right, if you will turn left something more pleasant. If you want to start suffering, turn right.

Rise to the Repeater

Once past this junction we find the second variant. If we turn to the left take the direction to Mijas Pueblo, but if we take the alternative of «Los Pedregales» we will find a slight decrease followed of ramps around 25-26%.

Very short but that will make our hearts to boil.

Rise to the Repeater

This last part is well worth a coffee in cozy place in Mijas village, the Blue Bike Coffee a place located in the center of the village.

With good coffee in one place as Mijas, and without looking back we undertake the climb to the colossus.

Rise to the Repeater

This town is unique, worth visiting carefully.

Rise to the Repeater

Now if, once out of the village towards Benalmádena by the A-368 only 1.5 kilometres we came across this crossover.

Rise to the Repeater

There is no turning back. 5 kilometers to an average of 9% and with views that deserve well suffer a little.

Rise to the Repeater

The days when the weather permits you can see both Sierra Nevada and the Coast of the nearest continent the Iberian Peninsula; Africa.

Here the majestic Mijas repeater.

Remember that in the fall there are small jumps on the road as a result of the roots of the trees. Always remember to take caution with these
small jumps Otherwise the descent itself is not dangerous but we must be aware if we pass a training partner or some
curious vehicle that wants to enjoy this wonderful climb.
