Today we are going to talk about a tour that can show us several faces according to the seasons of the year. This tour is recommended to do it in Spring or Autumn, due to the temperatures, which should not be as extreme as in winter and summer. We must bear in mind that during the whole tour we are in a valley where temperatures are more accentuated.
In the change of season from spring to summer, one of the most beautiful blooms, the flowering of the chestnut tree, occurs. Between the months of May and June to be more exact is when said flowering occurs.
The color of the flowers is golden yellowish, which generates a very striking aspect of the tree when it is completely flowery. Without forgetting that in autumn it will show us another very different face, with the ground full of leaves with brown, yellow, orange and ocher tones. That is why this forest is known as the «Copper Forest».
But we are going to talk about the route we have prepared, which is not a long route in its kilometer but if something demanding, given that in only 55 kilometers we accumulate 1300 meters of unevenness, yes, the views and landscapes are worth it.
«Rutometer»
We start at the famous Venta del Madroño.
From there we head towards Igualeja in a favorable terrain, in which we will warm up for the unevenness that we will find during the course of the route. In Igualeja we can stop for coffee to start the route with energy.
Once we leave the town we find the first ramps of the day, 8 kilometers with an average percentage of 8%.
After this climb we will have 15 kilometers of descent on good asphalt until we reach the junction of Cartajima.
Júzcar will be our next Town. This town is something peculiar in this area, it will call your attention to see the color it presents, it is not in vain known as the «Smurf village», which is quite touristy by the way.
It is here at the exit of Júzcar where we will start the second obstacle to climb, having already overcome more than half of the route. It is in this area between Júzcar and Pujerra where we enter the immense forest of Castaños.
Once arriving in Pujerra we will not end until we reach the place of departure where a well-deserved lunch will await us. We will not do all this without first contemplating the wonderful views that this wonderful environment offers us, located just a few kilometers from the Costa del Sol.
